World Habitat Awards (Programme Manager)
Abigail joined World Habitat as Programme Officer for the World Habitat Awards in November 2020. She helps co-ordinate the Awards’ process and works with previous awardees on World Habitat’s exChange programme.
Abigail completed her MSC in International Security at Sciences Po, during which she conducted a six-month field study on the development of the informal waste sector in post-conflict Iraq. Through this work, she deepened her understanding of urban planning issues and became interested in housing in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. She continues to research the intersection of conflict and urban development in Iraq. Abigail also has a BA from Wellesley College in History and Middle Eastern Studies.
Prior to joining World Habitat, Abigail worked at the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) where she worked with communities in Iraq and Yemen to develop post-conflict economic livelihoods and governance programming. At CIPE, she was also involved in strengthening anti-corruption advocacy and youth entrepreneurship in Egypt, Bahrain, and Turkey. Abigail has also conducted evaluation work for UNICEF on education intervention programming in Northern Iraq, specifically assessing infrastructure rehabilitation and supply distribution. She is certified in project management, monitoring and evaluation, and field office management.
